Today is the the day, Going to start laying up the pilot house riser glass. Of course the Northern CA weather is not cooperating – forecasted to be 100+ degrees today. So I got up at 4 am and got to work before the temps heated up too much to cause the epoxy resin to flash off too fast and deny me any working time. I laid up half of the bottom portion of the glass on the pilot house. I went with epoxy resin. Once epoxy resin sets up, you need to let it cure and sand it down before you can add the next layer. (If you can lay it up wet-on-wet, layer-to-layer you are fine, but I did not have that luxury because of the temperature and shortened working time.) Knowing that I would not be able to lay up the entire bottom portion, I planned the layup schedule so that I would only need to sand a small amount in order to continue the process the next day.
